Post Not a Jap car but I still love 'em
Since I can remember I have always lusted after these cars and I use the word lusted in it's correct context. I don't just like them, I want them! Maybe it's the utterly sexual curves of it's rear end or the bulbous, heaving front wings. Whatever it is I simply love these cars and still want one and I'll have one...one day. I may be 80 by the time I get one but that doesn't matter, the lines of these beautiful machines are timeless.

So, on arrival I could see the car had been cared for but it is a ten year old machine and the weather had taken it's toll with oxidisation/sun fade particularly on the roof and the bonnet areas. Residue from old polishes and waxes had accumulated in every nook and cranny along with general gunk and nastiness.

The original wheels weren't in too much of a bad way, no kerbing just a little build up of brake dust and they needed brightening all round to show off their former glory. Using VP Bilberry sprayed on then agitated worked perfectly, solution was diluted as the wheels really did just need sharpening up.

Then the car was washed to remove any old product still on it with my own shampoo concoction, a little mix of Dodo Juice and a secret little something. With this solution I can leave it to dwell for a little while without worrying that the shampoo will dry.
Image

That gave me time to inspect the car for Tar Spots that were removed with Tardis and allowed me to get in to the hard to reach places with brushes and shampoo solution too.

The car was then rinsed off and dried using Dodo Juice Towels and it was time to Clay. I used BH Soft Clay to help yank out the contaminants in the paint, and there were a few. There were also build ups of colour wax that had been missed in the cracks and crevices.

After the claying she was washed again with Dodo Juice Sour Power and dried off again using fresh Dodo Juice Towels.

Even in the sunlight you can see there were an awful lot of swirl marks on all the panels.

She was then taken inside and prepped for polishing.

It's tricky to see but the sunroof had some pretty bad pinkness to it, I've tried to mark it out.

As you have seen all the panels had bad swirling, this is the bonnet under the lights.

And this is it after the first passes with the machine using a Lake Country pad and Meguiars combination of #205 & 105

The rest of the car got the same treatment.

Once the correction of the entire car was completed I always like to finish with Lime Prime, this time on a Lake Country finishing pad.

After the LP I gave the car a quick coat of Poorboys Black Hole Glaze.

Then it was time for the protection stage and this time I went for two coats of Dodo Juice Hard Candy, a great hard wax that spreads evenly and is good for layering, quite durable too. Applied with Meguiars foam app pads.

Then buffed off to show a lovely deep shine.

Exterior plastic trim was treated with Poorboys Natural Dressing, tyres were dressed with Meguiars Hot Shine, Wheels were sealed with Poorboys Sealant and glass was cleaned with AutoGlym Fast Glass. The interior was vacuumed and leather was cleaned with Auto Glym Leather Cleaner then finished with Poorboys Natural Dressing.

The owner wanted some shots for the Porsche club he's in.

The customer was a really nice chap and kept me in coffee for the day and a half I was there for. My apologies for the pictures not being the best, but as said before I prefer to spend the money on trying new products rather than upgrading the camera...one day

Actually the car kinda reminds me of someone.....

Hey Ant,

It all depends really mate, that's the most time consuming part of detailing. Working out what combination of pad and polish to use for different paints. I used Meguiars polishes on this one, you can get fairly good results sometimes by hand but polishing via a machine is an awful lot quicker and more effective. Can be an expensive route to go with machine polishers as you get what you pay for :?
