Ok i have not been on here in a while but now I am back with alot of questions so all you guys and girls can help me get my show car back on the road soon.
My GTO is coming along nicly but have got stuck on the ice area.

Ok so the list of what I have is :-

Shark 5&quater" 600watt front speakers
YL-6955ITV 6x9 5way 800watt rear coaxal speakers
Semtoni 1200watt tweeters
Volfenhag zx-hypercap capicator
2x Volfenhag 15" subs 1000watt each
Mosfet vx-5150 3900watt Amp 5.1 channel
Belcanto Head unit (dvd mp4 mp3 tv rds gps 6.2inch touch screen)

Also getting a split charger at 300amps
A 9000watt wire kit
2x lcd 5" screens
1x 12" flip down screen

So there is what I have now and what I have orderd.

The big question is What am I missing and how do I power this system and can any one tell me were I can get the extra things that I need from????

id maybe go for another battery too, the power cap will be ok but for safety id go with another battery.

Depending on the wiring kit you have ordered you may need additional cabling. As its a 5.1 amp, i'm assuming it'll have a full compliment of inputs (i.e more than left and right!) so additional phono cables could be a good idea, correct me if i'm wrong.
If you are serious about this install then don't overlook decent video cable, not just those cack yellow phonos get some good sheilded vid cable (if you need it get in touch with me)
Second battery would be a really good idea too, and with your split charge system it can be integrated with the power cap quite easily.
Make sure you know where each cable is going to go,power, signal, and speaker, and what connectors you need at each end. Major pain if you don't have the right ones!
Get some cable ties, rubber grommets, and insulation tape.

Forgot a couple of things, especially with the screens, where are you getting the power, will you need additional power cable and fuses?

Fuse holders/ distribution blocks?

HU lead?

Are the subs going into boxes or fibreglass builds?

Ok this is what I am heading for I want a show system so when my doors and boot are open it looks the dogs nuts. Money is not a problem and the sound quality has to be good but not compition like.

I want a fiber glass boot install but have no idea how to do one.

Some people are saying gor for 1 amp to power the speakers and 1 amp to power the subs is this a good idea? what is the benfits of this? and if 2 amps is a the way forward can i mix amp makes?

Twin battery is good then what sort of battery do I go for to power the system I have seen a kenitic battery 950amp is this good enough and will my 300amp split charger be ok for it?

The screens what power cable do they need is it the same as amp wire. I have not got the screens yet lol.

What is a HU lead?

All this is to go into a Mitsi GTO hope I can get it all in lol.

So sorry if all these questions seem a bit random and easy but I have not got a clue when it comes to sound systems.

No worries about the questions mate!

Fibreglass, not so much difficult as messy and stinky, oh and time consuming!
I have worked with it before, so if you need someone to do it, ask.

Amps, the benefit of seperate amps is that its easier to fine tune the system, it looks better (looks more expensive too) if one pops you still have another, a decent show of the lovely cabling can be more impressive with 2 or more amps.
And subs pull a lot of power through the amp which can, in some amps, cause problems with the rest of the speakers.
Mixing and matching, my personal opinion is thats fine. But different amps may respond differently to the same signal (frequency response curve) But its normally tuneable anyway.

Battery 2, ideally so as not to cause problems with your alternator you need to spec the second battery as closely to that of your main one. 300A split charger, well we'd need to work out what the total current draw of the system will be and check to see if thats below 300A

Screens power, they only nees tjhin wire generally, something about as thick as good speaker cable should suffice. But make sure this gets fused on each cable as close to the battery as possible.

HU lead, its the cable that plugs into the back of the Head Unit and then has the correct end to plug into the car's original wiring loom.

Mitsi GTO, quite a big car really (mainly engine tho?), but i don't really know, never been in one!

so 2 amps then. I have 2 subs at 1000watt each so I have seen on the web a amp at 2000watts 2 channel and its made by the same make as my subs. is the 2 channel amp at 2000watts good enough for the 2 subs?

Ok if one amp does the subs. The 5.1 channel amp I have what is all the channels for etc would all this be just to power the speakers and tweeters etc

Cool about the fibre glass and when the time comes will give you a shout to help me as I have no idea appart from sticking my fingers together lol.

How do I work out the power drain on my battery of the system? I dont understand...

Were abouts are you based could you come and meet up so can help me and see what i have got and tell me what i need also look at the boot of the gto and see if it will all go in and how hard it is going to be ?

The quickest way to work the current rating out is to add the fuse ratings on the amps up! Or it may tell you what the current rating is for each amp, just add all the things up like screens amps and dvd player's current ratings, and if this is below the 300A of the split charger you'll be fine if not, possibly get a bigger one or use 2 to share the load.

2000W amp should do fine for the subs, as they are rated at 1000w anyway. so 2 of 'em is 2KW, but its unlikely they can actually handle that, and its best in my opinion to over spec the amp to give you a little 'head room' on the distortion free output. (you can allways turn amps down to be useable with the subs)
