could just be an airlock in the system gt4s can be awkward to bleed sometimes best to park it nose uphill(just a slight gradient you dont need a 10 in 1 slope) so the rad is the highest point.

run engine with rad cap off and heaters on full hot, squeeze coolant pipes do dislodge any air and wait for thermostat to open(coolant will drop in rad) add more coolant then switch off replace rad cap it should then be ok.

thats how i used to do mine and never had any trouble with airlocks

There is also a bleed point on the side of the engine with the exhaust manifold on it.

When you say it acted like the battery was flat, what do you mean? starter motor was clicking?

sorry for long time in replying.
No clicking just tried to turn (ish) and didn't.

just blew another hose and have no heater now. Can feel a hot pipe going in at the back of the heater and a cold one coming out, is this the thermostat not opening?

I love my car but just now it is becoming a bit like the missus, very unpredictable.

You mean the heater matrix? if no heat is coming out then you have air in the system still. When you bleed it make sure you have the heater on full heat and get all the air out!

if it keeps blowing hoses it could be a sign of a blown head gasket.

before you go jumping for a head gasket, have you noticed your coolant needs topping up every 5mins or is there oil in the coolant, as you said with the heater matrix it sounds like it could be either a thermostat in the heater system (if there is one im used to working on bigger vehicles) or an air lock, best idea is to check for white stuff in your header ( oil in water (headgasket) ) bleed the system usung the bleed point ( little plastic screw on a top hose ) and if no joy then change the thermostat and bleed the system again. If all this fails then start looking for bigger problems, cracks in metal work (letting air in) or splits in hoses. If this then fails then get it too a garage QUICK!!

hope this helps [-o<
