Post Broomy's Mitsubishi Colt 1.6 GLX (56K Beware)
Well i thought it was about time that i introduced everyone to my much loved Mitsubishi Colt!!!

i bought her (yep, VERY much female :P ) in december 2005 for £650 on 113k miles!!!!!

the guy selling it was rabbiting on about it being a DOHC and would waste VTS's etc.... i knew he was talking tosh, but id grabbed myself a bargain, so i didnt care.....

that was until it conked out outside my house!!!! =(

BUT it was only a £30 fuse!!! problem sorted and the guy who just sold it cheap as he believed the ECU was kaput.... is now probly mildly annoyed???

spec list dec2005:
13"alloy wheels
FULL leather interior

Image
Image

Let the modifying/personalising/customising/throwing hard earned cash (whatever you want to call it!! ) COMMENCE!!!!

FIRST mod was alloys :D
Image

then new steering wheel, induction kit, clear side repeaters and new car mats :D

i decided i was doing the car properly... no messing about with universal parts trying to make them fit, so next was a Custom cat back system from Urban Racing to replace the pea-shooter :P
Image

it stayed like that until june 2006, shortly after doing my first track time at japfest, and scaring myself and my mate Matt at how standard suspention and brakes were not upto track conditions..... i split up with my girlfriend!!!!

sorta sad occasion BUT ............ LOADSA spare cash lying about now :D

next purchase were GAZ coilovers,
Image
EBC Greenstuff pads, EVO Carbon Fibre Front Upper Strut brace, FTO rear upper and lower strut braces and "Jap" plates in time for Japfest2 at donington!!! :D (nearly missed out as i drilled through my thumb at work days before!!!)
Image
Image

btw EBC Greenstuf pads are SO rubbish after 5mins hard use its untrue  brake upgrade was next on the cards!!!

purchased some EL Dials
Image

last show of the year was japshow finale, i managed a 17.5sec 1/4mile (laugh as you wish... but this was with 89 horsies under the bonnet :P)
Image

needed more power, so i bought a OBX-Racing 4-2-1 Stainless manifold from the States, and a de-cat :D
Image

On the 24th Feb 2007 i rolling roaded the colt at PECO in Birkenhead and got 87.1BHP + 94.1lb/ft of torque at the wheels, which is roughly 108bhp at the fly!!! an improvement on 89bhp :D
Image

few days later a gypo in a transit kindly modified the front of the car for me!!!
Image

Temporary Fix:
Image

then bought a silver1.3 to strip for required parts!!!

whilst the new front end was in the bodyshop, i cracked on with the brake upgrade... the week before Japfest '07!!!

EVO3/FTO GPX Front Calipers - 3G 20-groove discs - Mintex1144 Pads
Image

Colt GTI/FTO Rear brakes (upgrade from drums) 3G 20 groove discs - Mintex Pads
Image

also fitted a sports cat and fitted a HKS filter and Ecutek valve

the thursday before japfest i fitted the new front end!!!

16" Alloys with Toyo T1-R
GAZ fully adjustable Coilovers
EVO Carbon front upper strut brace
FTO rear upper strut brace
HKS EVO Panel Filter
Ecutek Valve
OBX-Racing 4-2-1 Manifold and sports cat
Cat back exhaust system
FTO spec Brake Upgrade
3G Discs
Mintex Xtreme Pads
Projector Fog Lights
Performance HT leads
Richbrook R1 Steering Wheel
Tinted Wind Deflectors

as the engine is on approx 125k im not bothering playing with it anymore..... its getting a new one!!!

the final decision as to which one has yet to be made!!!!

cheers for taking the time to read about my baby
will keep you all updated with its progress!!!

Chris

Ace story buddy :D

Glad you've got it back to its former glory after the pickey hit you.

So you still planning the engine conversion then?

Since the last update alot has changed with the Colt.

In August 2008, It was Stolen, then recovered with a seized engine. A new 1.8 fitted + then remapped by Tuning Developments on an Emanage Blue, giving a healthy 133bhp and 138ft/lb.

But it still wasnt pokey enough to keep up with some great friends cars (met on here).....

So a 4g93t 1.8L engine out of a Lancer GSR (NOT an Evo) giving 200bhp + 200ft/lb as standard was purchased in November 2008

In the past 3 years, the Colt was used as a daily driver then in Feb '09 taken off the road for just over a year, in that time stripped and virtually rebuilt with all new parts.

She now looks a little like this:

New vs Old

Managed to get it strapped on the Rollers at Tuning Developments a few months ago (just.. the Colt is far too low!!)

anyway, here is a with Maf dyno printout. You can see what not getting enough air does to the power. After 5250rpm, the power drops off. Thats set to be addressed with the new ecu ;)
